In honor of the world's scientists...Mist Netting (Ornithology)
Ornithology is the branch of zoology concerned with the study of birds. Mist nets are used by ornithologists to capture wild birds for banding or other research projects. In ECRC's simulation, participants launch foam birds, catch them in mist nets and then finish with a high paced identification challenge.
Frog Frenzy (Zoology)
Frogs are an important signature species that can indicate the health of an ecosystem. In honor of frog scientists, "Frog Frenzy" allows participants experience morphology and the physiology of frogs including feet and legs, skin and the special characteristics of poison dart frogs.
Oh Manatee!
Using giant stuffed manatees, professional animal rescue protocols are followed to save them. Thank you to the National Aquarium in Baltimore for its marine animal rescue book.
